AAN Launches over $2 Million Campaign To Stop Biden’s Medicare Advantage Cuts

Campaign Includes Broadcast, Cable, and Digital Advertising in 14 Congressional Districts

WASHINGTON – American Action Network launched a new issue advocacy campaign this morning urging Members of Congress to stop Joe Biden’s proposed cuts to Medicare Advantage benefits that would impact 30 million seniors. The new campaign includes over $2 million of broadcast, cable, and digital advertising across 14 Congressional Districts and additional cable advertising in the Washington, D.C. market.

The new ads highlight how, last year, Congressional liberals cut $300 billion from Medicare to fund frivolous “Green Energy” projects and hire an army of additional IRS agents, and are currently making alarming benefit cuts to Medicare Advantage that could cost seniors up to $540 a year in benefits per senior.

“Joe Biden and his liberal friends in Congress are talking out of both sides of their mouth: promising to protect Medicare while pushing benefit cuts for seniors,” said AAN President Dan Conston. “Each and every liberal in Congress needs to speak out now and stop Biden’s cuts to Medicare benefits before it’s too late.”

Districts included in AAN’s new advocacy campaign:

  • AK-AL: Mary Peltola
  • CO-08: Yadira Caraveo
  • ME-02: Jared Golden
  • MI-08: Dan Kildee
  • NC-01: Don Davis

BACKGROUND: On January 30, the Biden Administration proposed cutting from Medicare Advantage, which an independent study estimated would cost seniors an average of $540 a year in benefits. The Administration has until April 3, 2023, to finalize the funding changes. The Administration’s proposed cuts come after the CBO confirmed that the “largest effect” of the left’s 2022 reconciliation package was $307 billion in cuts to Medicare that were then used to pay for various spending programs, including $80 billion for the IRS, green energy tax credits and more. The new campaign builds on American Action Network’s long history of defending Medicare Advantage and running issue programs in support of the program the last time the left proposed cuts in 2016 and 2014.
