AAN Releases “Unwelcome” Ad Campaign Against Ami Bera

WASHINGTON – The American Action Network (@AAN) today released the ad “Unwelcome” in California’s 7th congressional district race, highlighting Ami Bera’s role in supporting Obamacare.

Ami Bera has stood with his friend Nancy Pelosi to defend Obamacare even as California families have faced canceled health plans, higher premiums and loss of doctors. Instead of standing up for his constituents hurt by Obamacare, Ami Bera has become part of the problem in Washington, voting with his party nearly 90% of the time.

The ad will air on Sacramento broadcast and cable TV as part of AAN’s $1.2 Million in independent expenditures in the CA-07 race. “Unwelcome” will also feature a 15-second version for online advertising. AAN’s sister organization, Congressional Leadership Fund super PAC, is also scheduled to spend $1 Million in the race in the coming weeks, bringing the combined independent expenditures of AAN and CLF to $2.2 Million.

“Ami Bera voted to keep Obamacare despite the cost to California families,” said Emily Davis, spokeswoman for American Action Network. “If losing health plans and doctors weren’t bad enough, now California families could face sharp premium increases thanks to Ami Bera’s support of the Obamacare law. It’s time California families had a leader in Congress who stands up for them, not another partisan player for Nancy Pelosi.”

:30 Script:

ANNCR: First, the broken promises.

PELOSI: “If you like what you have, and you want to keep it, you have the choice to do that.”

ANNCR: Now the premium increases.

NBC NEWS: “…some insurance companies in California… are proposing rate increases of 20-percent or more…”

ANNCR: Yet Ami Bera supported Obamacare, even as premiums went up and families lost their plans and doctors.

If Ami Bera won’t stand up for us, why should we stand up for him?
