AAN Poll Shows Tie in NY-01 Race

Today American Action Network is releasing a new poll in NY-01, showing a dead heat race between Congressman Tim Bishop and Senator Lee Zeldin. Key findings from the poll include:

• Bishop and Zeldin are tied at 46%, with 7% undecided.

• 62% of voters disapprove of Obama’s job performance, while just 37% approve. Meanwhile, 24% of voters say the country is headed in the right direction v. 69% who say wrong track.

• Of crucial “independent” voters, Bishop’s image is underwater (43% favorable/47% unfavorable), and he is losing independent voters to Zeldin 49% to 43%.

Conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, this poll confirms that Tim Bishop has made himself very vulnerable given his lockstep support for President Obama’s agenda and his ongoing ethics investigations.
