American Action Network Launches $1 Million+ TV Ad Campaign

– AAN’s First Issue Advocacy Campaign of the Year

– AAN Will Take Leading Role Identifying, Communicating Most Effective Messages with Significant Resources

WASHINGTON – The American Action Network (@AAN) today begins the first issue advocacy campaign of the cycle with a $1 million+ TV buy advertising the House Republican plan to replace Obamacare. The ad campaign launches nationally during coverage of Speaker Paul Ryan’s town hall event on CNN Thursday evening and will air on broadcast and cable throughout the month in the districts of 15 Members of Congress. AAN has been a significant voice in the fight to repeal and replace Obamacare for years.

“American Action Network is proud to be the first and leading advertising voice for shaping the biggest congressional policy challenge of our day: repealing and replacing Obamacare,” said AAN Executive Director Corry Bliss. “Americans should know that Speaker Ryan and House Republicans have a plan to replace Obamacare with quality, affordable health care. For all the noise over Obamacare repeal, this much is clear: Americans support the House Republican plan and believe in a fair transition period to get there. The American people are rejecting the ‘Make America Sick Again’ publicity stunt and are ready to see Congress make patient-centered health care a reality.”

This is just the first issue advocacy campaign of many to come this year as AAN takes a leading role in identifying and communicating the most effective messages and strategies for center-right policy in the new Congress. AAN’s ad campaign follows the release of a nationwide poll, showing that nearly two-thirds of voters support repealing and replacing Obamacare with a plan featuring the broad principles of a House Republican plan. The most popular messages for a replacement plan include coverage that provides ownership and portability, centers on what is best for the patient, and lowers health coverage costs. The ad campaign includes over $1 million for national television and for regional television in the congressional districts of Jeff Denham (CA-10), David Valadao (CA-21), Darrell Issa (CA-49), Mike Coffman (CO-06), Carlos Curbelo (FL-26), Rod Blum (IA-01), Don Bacon (NE-02), Pat Tiberi (OH-12), Steve Stivers (OH-15), Greg Walden (OR-02), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08), Mac Thornberry (TX-13), Will Hurd (TX-23), Bob Goodlatte (VA-06), and Barbara Comstock (VA-10).
